About Union Aid:

Union Aid (UA), established in July 1979 in Peshawar, Pakistan, by a group of Afghan philanthropists and social activists, serves Afghan Refugees and host communities. UA focuses on health, education, and skill development, providing basic health services, education, skill development programs, and scholarships.

UA actively supports humanitarian & development sectors, including Healthcare, Nutrition, Education, Scholarships, Technical Vocational Education Trainings, Family Support Programs, Emergency Response, Livelihoods, Food Security, Shelter, Construction/Rehabilitation of community-level infrastructures, Environmental Protection, and WASH.

Job Description:

Responsibilities:

  • Collect necessary baseline information about the target community and area.
  • Motivate and encourage community committees, activists, and influencers to advocate and promote the project in their community.
  • Conduct regular meetings/sessions in the community.
  • Share the work plan with beneficiaries, identifying their roles in the project for individual households and community levels.
  • Mobilize and build the capacity of community committees.
  • Obtain feedback, suggestions, and grievances from target communities and forward to project management.
  • Assess and identify priority points for repair, maintenance, and equipping of small-scale infrastructure through different schemes.
  • Sensitize communities on their role in the operation and maintenance of communal schemes.
  • Maintain close liaison with beneficiary households, visiting/meeting them once a week.
  • Develop and maintain documentation of all project outreach activities.
  • Maintain and update records at the office level.
  • Develop and submit daily activity reports and monitoring reports.
  • Make continuous follow-ups on activities with beneficiaries and inform project management.
  • Participate in capacity-building trainings, workshops, and seminars.

Requirements:

Education:

Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; relevant training or education in community development or related fields is preferred.

Work Experience:

Minimum 1 year experience in community mobilization, grassroots organizing, or working with national/international NGOs.

Qualifications:

  • Strong commitment to community development and gender equality.
  • Familiarity with the cultural, social, and economic context of Afghanistan, particularly in the target provinces.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, engaging effectively with diverse community members, including women and girls.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate meetings, conduct training, and mobilize communities towards collective action.
  • Proficiency in local languages (Pashto, Dari) required; knowledge of English is an advantage.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within target provinces for community engagement and project-related activities.
  • Female employee is preferred.
