Tabish Social Health Education Organization is a non-governmental, non-political, not-for-profit humanitarian organization operating in Afghanistan. Committed to psycho-social health, education, and capacity development, Tabish follows the regulations of NGOs and governmental procedures approved by the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan laws. Established in 2009 and registered with the Ministry of Economy (Reg #1466) and the Ministry of Public Health of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in 2012, Tabish currently provides mental health, psychosocial, basic health/hygiene support, safe motherhood, and CHW/TBA training for disadvantaged populations within IDP camps.

Job Description:

Tabish is seeking a Medical Doctor with experience in trauma center, particularly in Orthopedic Surgery, who can also conduct first aid training for an upcoming short-term project in Kabul and surrounding provinces.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide individual and group psychosocial counseling to beneficiaries in Kabul’s target communities.
  2. Ensure professional psychological assessment and support for all beneficiary cases, monitoring and documenting psychological recovery.
  3. Produce and maintain accurate, confidential records of beneficiary cases.
  4. Refer beneficiaries for additional assistance to internal and external service providers as needed.
  5. Conduct psychosocial information awareness-raising sessions in targeted communities.
  6. Engage the community in discussions around women’s rights and gender-based violence.
  7. Identify psychosocial problems and access to services, providing recommendations to mitigate them.
  8. Establish a monitoring system to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of planned psychological support.
  9. Provide training to Tabish staff on identifying signs of possible abuse and psychological first aid.
  10. Support and give training to other local actors and community members on psychological first aid, identification, and referral of persons in need of psychosocial support.
  11. Assist in needs assessment surveys for future psychosocial programming.
  12. Submit weekly progress reports of activities to the line manager.

Job Requirements:

  • University degree in Psychology or Social Work, and a valid certificate from the Ministry of Health certifying as a professional psychosocial counselor.
  • Understanding of the basic principles of humanitarian work, human rights, protection, and the needs of internally displaced persons and refugees in Afghanistan.
  • Interest in humanitarian work and human rights, with the ability and willingness to learn.
