About NSDO:

New Way Social and Development Organization (NSDO) is a Kabul-based development, advocacy, and humanitarian organization, established in 2011 and registered with the Ministry of Economy, Government of Afghanistan. NSDO operates across northern and northeastern provinces, focusing on empowering vulnerable communities affected by war, natural calamities, poverty, and injustice. NSDO’s approach includes integrated development, addressing socio-economic, cultural, and good governance aspects with a core strategy of community empowerment.

Job Description:

  1. As a Program Support Officer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the success of NSDO’s programs. Responsibilities include:
  2. Provide comprehensive support and backstopping for assigned programs, ensuring compliance with NSDO and donor policies and procedures.
  3. Collaborate with field personnel on project-related services and activities, acting as the primary point of contact between field offices, NSDO, and donor agencies.
  4. Develop and update country-level work plans and budgets for project activities, in consultation with the Program Manager and Technical team.
  5. Coordinate and manage project activities at the country level, including assessments, training, curriculum development, asset distribution, and community engagement.
  6. Monitor and evaluate project progress and outcomes in the provinces, using quantitative and qualitative data, indicators, and tools, reporting results to the Program Manager.
  7. Prepare and submit regular and timely reports on project activities, achievements, challenges, and lessons learned at the country level.
  8. Contribute to the development and improvement of program strategies, policies, and best practices, aligning with national and international standards.
  9. Participate in project coordination and learning events, sharing NSDO’s perspectives, insights, and feedback.
  10. Conduct frequent travel to the field to monitor program implementation and provide technical assistance.
  11. Serve as the main point of contact for partner/stakeholders’ institutions as relevant.
  12. Provide updates, reports, and critical analysis of field reports to the Executive Director and Program Manager.
  13. Register projects with the Ministry of Economy (MoEc) and other stakeholders, providing regular updates.
  14. Analyze project expenditures against budget and coordinate with relevant departments/staff.
  15. Ensure adherence to NSDO and donor policies and procedures.
  16. Participate in, coordinate, and/or lead program development and proposal preparation efforts as needed.
  17. Take responsibility for humanitarian interventions of NSDO in operational areas and provinces.
  18. Perform any other duties as assigned by the Program Manager.

Job Requirements:

  • Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a relevant field of study.
  • PMP certification is an asset.
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience in a related field with a master’s degree, and 5 years with a bachelor’s degree with national or international NGOs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, Dari, and/or Pashto.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent writing skills in English.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Willingness and ability to learn.
  • Able to work under pressure.
