Union Aid (UA), established in July 1979 in Peshawar, Pakistan, by Afghan philanthropists and social activists, serves Afghan Refugees and host communities through projects in health, education, and skill development. UA provides basic health services, formal education, skill development programs, and actively supports humanitarian & development sectors, including Healthcare, Nutrition, Education, Scholarships, Technical Vocational Education Trainings, Family Support Programs, Emergency Response, Livelihoods, Food Security, Shelter, Construction/Rehabilitation of community-level infrastructures, Environmental Protection, and WASH.

Job Description: Finance Officer

Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility for financial and accounting duties of the project.
  • Maintain project bank accounts, hawala contracts, petty cash, payments to vendors, staff payroll, and tax payments.
  • Prepare vouchers and record transactions in QuickBooks.
  • Keep accurate records for all daily transactions.
  • Reconcile daily, monthly, and yearly transactions in QuickBooks.
  • Track bank deposits and payments.
  • Assist in financial management, including managing cash flows and multiple foreign currencies according to donor contracts.
  • Review and implement financial policies.
  • Review and approve payment of invoices and statements.
  • Check all expenses against approved budget lines.
  • Record financial transactions in primary books of accounts.
  • Facilitate staff salary process and monthly payments.
  • Verify financial documents before cash payment.
  • Ensure proper filing of all original financial documents.
  • Record project assets accurately.
  • Manage bank accounts, cash flow, payroll, and vendor payments.
  • Work with procurement staff on travel advances and expense reports.
  • Assist in petty cash management.
  • Prepare monthly cash forecasts and cash requests.
  • Reconcile taxes and liabilities accounts.
  • Provide original vouchers to internal and external auditors as required.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the senior accountant/head of Finance.

Job Requirements:

  • BBA in finance.
  • Four years practical working experience in finance with local or international NGOs.
  • Professional in using QuickBooks.
  • Fluent in Pashto, Dari, and English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Good communication skills, teamwork spirit, and capability to respond to challenging conditions.
  • Proactive, persuasive, and ability to work under stress and with deadlines.
  • Disciplined, professional, hard-worker.
  • Flexible regarding working hours.
