Established in 1999, Islamic Relief’s Afghanistan office actively engages in emergency relief, food security, livelihood, education, health, nutrition, shelter, orphan sponsorship, Ramadan, and Qurbani programs.
Job Description:
As a vital member of the health team led by the project medical doctor, you will play a crucial role in the field visit to identify individuals with emergency health needs in the project implementation area. Key responsibilities include:
- Taking patient history, checking vital signs, and recording patient details in the registration log and other project documents.
- Applying injections, fluids, and assisting the project medical doctor in following proper health protocols.
- Conducting community awareness sessions to elevate health education and awareness levels, focusing on disease prevention.
- Providing awareness on prevention from communicable and non-communicable diseases, with a special emphasis on Covid-19.
- Distributing informative materials in health awareness sessions and engaging with the community.
- Referring critical and complicated cases to the project Medical Doctor for consultation.
- Identifying vulnerable groups and facilitating communication between provincial teams and community leaders for Covid-19 awareness interventions.
- Creating an environment for interactive sessions, collecting feedback, and systematically recording participants’ views and suggestions.
- Capturing quality photos, quotes, and case studies for documentation.
- Performing any other assigned or required tasks.
Job Requirements:
Education:
Obtained degree in Nursing.
Experience:
- Minimum 1-2 years’ work experience, particularly in the field of health and nutrition.
- Experience in staff management, public outreach/counseling, community mobilization, and coordination with stakeholders.
- Strong command of Pashto/Dari.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-ethnic team and handle diverse tasks.
- Working experience in the targeted provinces with knowledge of the local community, geography, and culture.
