Job Description: PSS Animator/Facilitator

Implementation of Project Activities:

  • Lead recreational and PSS activities in the CFS regularly.
  • Engage positively with children daily, ensuring their well-being.
  • Take attendance for each session and prepare weekly activity plans.
  • Integrate children with special needs into activities and refer them to relevant services if needed.
  • Respond to community members’ and parents’ inquiries about CFS/PSS activities.
  • Adhere to the Code of Conduct daily, both in CFS/PSS centers and the community.
  • Attend special information sessions for community members and parents.
  • Develop daily/weekly activity schedules for children or youth.
  • Ensure the safety of all children and youth.
  • Report supply/material needs to the child protection officer.
  • Establish good working relationships with community shuras and key project actors.
  • Facilitate safe and confidential referrals to other service providers.
  • Support information dissemination on protection, safeguarding, service access, and psychosocial support through home visits or service points.
  • Collaborate closely with staff and project teams, ensuring coordination, information sharing, and referrals.
  • Maintain confidentiality standards and report safeguarding concerns.

PSS and Recreational Activities:

  • Attend and actively participate in all WVI training sessions.
  • Maintain a minimum of 90% attendance in CFS sessions.
  • Keep accurate attendance records for each session.
  • Complete observations or weekly reports as requested.
  • Remain open to feedback from CFS Leaders and WVI staff.

Reporting and Administration:

  • Appraise staff performance in line with WV HR policy (Community Mobilizers).
  • Provide daily supervision of Community Mobilizers.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports for management.
  • Ensure timely reporting of activity reports to the child protection officer.
  • Prepare and implement weekly and daily plans.

Networking & Coordination:

Maintain strong working relationships with partner agencies and service providers.

Collaborate with protection/project teams, ensuring links between case management and other sectoral activities.

Participate in internal meetings and coordinate with other program/sector teams.

Other:

Adhere to WV Child and Adult Safeguarding policy and standards.

Follow WV accountability standards.

Be prepared to implement WV Afghanistan Humanitarian and Emergency Affairs plan in fragile contexts.

Job Requirements:

Required Professional Experience:

Minimum 1 year of experience in implementing protection or child protection programs in humanitarian settings.

Required Education, Training, License, Registration, and Certification:

12th Grade or Diploma in community development, psychology, social work, sociology, or other relevant social sciences.

Certification or courses in Protection, Child Protection, Gender-based Violence, International Humanitarian Law, PSS, and education.

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in working with INGO is preferred.
  • Prefer male and female couples for this position.
  • Experience in fragile contexts and humanitarian response.
  • Experience in community mobilization and conducting outreach activities.
  • Experience in implementing programs with case management and psychosocial support components is desirable.
  • Basic knowledge of child protection principles and programming approaches.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of inter-agency Child Protection in Humanitarian Action tools, guidelines, and resources is an asset.
  • Fluent in local language (Dari); English skills desirable.
