Job Summary:

Kandahar Refugee Organization (KRO) is seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer to lead the engineering aspects of the KRO-RFS program. The Senior Engineer will play a crucial role in managing construction projects, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, and providing technical oversight for resilience-building initiatives.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Project Management:

  • Manage the schedule and programming of activities for the KRO-RFS program.
  • Supervise district implementation teams and ensure compliance with sub-contract terms.
  • Conduct regular inspection site visits, ensuring adherence to technical documents.
  • Provide design inputs for construction projects and propose revisions when necessary.
  • Implement the quality control process and verify environmental screening checklist criteria.

Technical Oversight:

  • Provide technical support to field-based construction activities, both directly implemented and contracted projects.
  • Lead engineering design, analysis, and optimization of resilience-building projects.
  • Conduct technical assessments, feasibility studies, and cost-benefit analyses.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Advise on construction-related issues and solve technical problems encountered during project implementation.

Quality Assurance:

  • Monitor the quality of materials procured and construction activities under KRO-RFS projects.
  • Manage construction project schedule, scope, and quality.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure timely and high-quality performance.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Prepare technical reports, progress monitoring reports, and documentation from field inspections.
  • Ensure the flow of information between senior management and field/district staff.
  • Manage data and documents related to construction projects.
  • Provide input for interim payment certifications and requests.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 7-10 years of proven experience in a senior engineer manager role.
  • Technical expertise in agricultural construction, water management, and sustainable engineering practices.
  • Proficiency in engineering design software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.).
  • Project management experience, including planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Knowledge of relevant engineering standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyze complex technical issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Leadership capabilities to guide and mentor implementation and quality control engineers.
