Job Description: Risk and Compliance Coordinator

Title: Risk and Compliance Coordinator

Team/Programme: Risk and Compliance

Location: Kabul (at least 50% travel to Field Offices)

Grade: 3

Contract Length: Fixed Term

Child Safeguarding: (select only one)

Level 3: The post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently or intensively due to their role within country programs.

Role Purpose:

The Risk and Compliance Coordinator plays a crucial role in the Risk and Compliance Unit. Responsibilities include supervising and managing a team, assisting in the annual compliance review plan, conducting internal control/compliance/management reviews, and supporting various risk management activities.

Scope of Role:

Reports to: Risk and Compliance Director

Staff reporting: Risk and Compliance Officer(s) and Assistant(s)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supports the development of an annual risk-based approach plan.
  • Drafts ToR and working tools for planned Internal Management, Control, and Compliance Reviews.
  • Executes and/or leads RC Officers on conducting reviews, ensuring adherence to approved ToR.
  • Supervises and supports RC Officers on consolidating audit findings, drafting reports, and making recommendations.
  • Leads and supports RC Officers on performing spot checks and internal reviews.
  • Assists in identifying fraud, red flags, and reporting to the Counter Fraud Team.
  • Maintains and updates the filing system of the risk and compliance department.
  • Develops training plans based on identified gaps and conducts internal training for staff.
  • Supports Risk and Compliance Director in following up identified risks and updating Risk Management Plan.
  • Provides training and capacity building for staff at field offices.
  • Delegates and supervises assigned RC Officers & Assistants on day-to-day activities.

Qualifications:

University degree in business administration, finance, law, or other relevant technical credentials.

Experience and Skills:

  • Over 5 years of experience in internal audit, control, compliance, risk management, and related fields.
  • Skill in conducting quality control reviews of audit work products.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to draw logical conclusions.
  • Project management skills with the ability to maintain composure under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including active listening and presentation.
  • Good command of English language and computer literate (MS Office).

Desirable:

Professional certification like CIA, ACCA is preferred.
