About the Job:

The Protection Project Manager is responsible for implementing DRC Afghanistan’s Protection Strategy, managing day-to-day Protection projects within the designated area, and overseeing Protection Monitoring, Community-Based Protection, Case Management, and Advocacy for the rights of displaced people. This role involves strategic vision, project management, technical expertise, and direct management of program staff.

Responsibilities:

Project Management and Implementation:

Strategically oversee protection teams and project activities.

Adapt tools and approaches for remote project management.

Ensure program adaptability to operational contexts and compliance with contractual obligations.

Technical Management and Quality Control:

Implement protection projects aligned with DRC strategy and technical standards.

Strengthen the Protection Monitoring System and guide team leaders for quality deliverables.

Conduct regular quality assessments and identify opportunities for program improvement.

People Management:

Establish suitable people management mechanisms for remote management.

Lead and manage program staff, including recruitment, performance appraisal, and capacity development.

Information Management, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Reporting:

Develop and implement relevant accountability initiatives.

Support writing management and donor reports, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements.

Oversee knowledge sharing and regular audits of Protection Information Management databases.

Coordination and Representation:

Actively participate in Protection and relevant sub-sectors/working groups.

Coordinate and liaise with UNHCR, I/NGOs, and other stakeholders for a transparent and coordinated approach.

Partnerships and Localization:

Strengthen relationships with networks and relevant stakeholders.

Engage in bilateral coordination with local and international NGOs to expand partner networks.

Strategic Programming and Project Development:

Contribute to needs assessments for program design and strategic direction.

Identify opportunities for protection interventions and collaborate with relevant teams for proposal development.

Job Requirements:

About You:

  • To be successful in this role, you must have:
  • 3-5 years of practical experience in Protection within an INGO.
  • Experience in Protection Monitoring, Case Management, and/or Community-Based Protection.
  • 3 years’ experience in people and project management.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills for external audiences.
  • Advanced computer knowledge (MS Word, Excel, Power Point).
  • University degree or Advanced University degree in a relevant field.
  • Full professional proficiency in English, Dari & Pashtu.
