Job Description

Job Summary:

Kandahar Refugee Organization (KRO) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Manager to oversee and drive the implementation of various projects. Reporting directly to the Program Manager, the incumbent will play a vital role in project planning, coordination, and ensuring successful execution.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Project Planning and Implementation:

  • Develop comprehensive work plans, monitor project progress, and prepare necessary reports.
  • Manage and supervise all project staff to ensure timely implementation of activities.
  • Ensure the existence of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) plans and reports.
  • Track project progress, ensuring alignment with work plans and objectives.
  • Develop monitoring and evaluation tools, establish quality controls, and support national and donor staff in project monitoring and evaluation.
  • Provide timely technical assistance to project staff and stakeholders.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the Project Manager.

2. Administrative:

  • Share and resolve problems and needs of the project and project staff with the program.
  • Update relevant government departments and donor agencies on project activities.
  • Provide clear objectives to the team, offer meaningful feedback on performance, and report to the Head of Program and Programs Coordinator on project activities.
  • Conduct meetings with line departments, donor agencies, and community members to address implementation and related issues.
  • Manage all project activities in project provinces, ensuring effective service provision.

3. Coordination:

  • Establish proper coordination mechanisms with relevant stakeholders and line departments.
  • Foster positive relationships with community elders, local Shura members, and other influential people to operate efficiently.
  • Strengthen coordination between project staff and stakeholders.

4. Financial Management:

Ensure effective and efficient utilization of the project budget for intended purposes.

5. Logistic:

Arrange and manage logistics, administration, and transportation needs for project and project staff with the logistics department.

6. Data Management & Reporting:

  • Organize and maintain project documentation in both hard and soft formats.
  • Collaborate with project staff to prepare data appropriately.
  • Document lessons learned and case studies, sharing them with project staff and stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely reporting to Line Managers on roles, responsibilities, and project implementation progress.

7. Other:

  • Participate in training workshops, meetings, and project events held in any provinces.
  • Visit project sites to monitor all activities.
  • Adhere to all KRO code of conduct policies, maintain 100% transparency and accountability.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by management.

Job Requirements:

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in project management, administration, or a relevant field (Higher degrees preferred).
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in the relevant field, especially in development projects.
  • Previous work experience with NGOs/INGOs is preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Office package and reporting.
  • Excellent command of English and local languages.
  • Ability to work long hours under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
