Job Title: Partnership Capacity Building Advisor

Team/Programme: Education Project – Programme Operations

Location: Kabul, Afghanistan (with 50% travel to the field)

Grade: Nat 2

Role Purpose:

The Partnership Capacity Building Advisor leads the capacity-building program for project partners, ensuring quality project delivery. Reporting to the Head of Partnership and Deputy Chief of Party (DCoP), the role assesses partner capacities, provides coaching, and supports partners in various functional and thematic areas. The Advisor contributes to strategy development, facilitates change processes, and maintains positive project governance.

Scope of Role:

Reports to: Deputy Chief of Party (solid reporting line), Head of Partnership (SCI–dotted).

Staff Reporting: N/A

Dimensions: Save the Children International in Afghanistan collaborates with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) as a sub-implementer, working with five implementing partner organizations.

Key Areas of Accountability:

Strategic:

Ensure alignment with SCI on partnership roadmap, approach, and indicators.

Coordinate with relevant departments to allocate budgets for capacity strengthening.

Capacity Building and Sharing:

  • Conduct or support Partnership Assessments.
  • Develop capacity strengthening programs based on assessment results.
  • Facilitate Organizational Capacity Assessments.
  • Support partners in developing capacity strengthening plans.
  • Provide general training and targeted capacity strengthening support.
  • Measure the effectiveness of capacity-sharing programs and lead training on 2 CFR 200.

Partnership Management:

Work closely with partners under IRC and Save the Children to ensure capacity strengthening.

Collaborate with the project team on joint monitoring visits and document the partnership journey.

Initiate and maintain collaboration with diverse partners for potential strategic partnerships.

Brand and Reputation:

Ensure partners actively contribute to building and maintaining the project and Save the Children’s brand.

Communication and Representation:

Maintain effective communication within the Project Team and Partnership Unit.

Facilitate communication between program, partners, and external stakeholders.

Contribute to maintaining relationships with government authorities, NGOs, donors, and other stakeholders.

General:

Comply with Save the Children policies regarding child safeguarding, code of conduct, health and safety.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, project management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of partnership management experience, including community engagement.
  • Experience with an international NGO or similar organization.
  • Experience in developing and running capacity strengthening programs.
  • Strong project and partnership management skills.
  • Fluency in Pashto, Dari, and English (written and spoken).
