Job Description: Capacity Building Officer

Title: Capacity Building Officer

Team/Programme: Education (Ops)

Location: Paktia

Grade: 5

Contract Length: Fixed Term

Child Safeguarding:

Level 1: The post holder will not have contact with children, and a police check is not mandatory unless the post content changes.

Role Purpose:

Support Partner and Teachers’ capacity building, monitoring the quality of education and Community-Based Education (CBE) classes.

Scope of Role:

Reports to: Education Field Coordinator

Staff Reporting: Nil

Key Areas of Accountability:

  • Plan and implement a yearly training schedule, supporting partner staff in training plan execution.
  • Collaborate with the Education Field Coordinator and partners to prepare and share the training delivery plan.
  • Deliver high-quality training to partner trainers and staff (ToT).
  • Conduct supervisory visits to assess training impact, identify gaps, document best practices, and support partners in training cascading.
  • Supervise partner trainers, CBE teachers/mentors, and facilitators, ensuring quality delivery.
  • Monitor and provide technical advice to partner staff at provincial and district levels.
  • Submit bi-weekly and monthly work plans and quality progress reports to the field coordinator.
  • Ensure accurate project data collection in collaboration with partner staff.
  • Build positive relationships with partners and stakeholders, supporting partner capacity assessments.
  • Conduct field visits, collect project progress data, and ensure safer partnership practices.
  • Initiate improvements in partnership practices, such as developing new tools and trackers.
  • Assist partner staff with administrative, documentation, and other duties as needed.
  • Maintain up-to-date data trackers and a comprehensive file system for project documents.
  • Use monitoring checklists during visits and prepare reports based on checklists.
  • Undertake additional tasks as required by the office or line manager.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • University degree in education, social science, or a relevant field.
  • Over 2 years of experience in education (school) in NGOs.
  • Knowledge of MS Office, particularly Word, PPT, with previous database experience.
  • Strong training delivery skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (English preferable).
  • Proactive, flexible, and dedicated to working in the interest of children.

Desirable:

Optimistic, a good listener, and solution-oriented.

Additional Responsibilities:

Duties are not exhaustive, and the role may include additional tasks within reason.
