Job Description:

Role Purpose:

As the New Business Development Manager, reporting to the Head of New Business Development, you’ll play a pivotal role in establishing external relationships with local, regional, and global stakeholders. Your focus will be on profiling SCI’s business development efforts for the Afghanistan Country Office. From portfolio analysis to leading proposal development processes, you’ll be a key player in driving new business initiatives.

Key Areas of Accountabilities:

  • New Business Development (30%):
  • Analyze the current portfolio, identifying trends for a better funding strategy.
  • Track funding opportunities and foster long-term collaborations with key stakeholders.
  • Cultivate business relationships for strategic funding opportunities.
  • Implement funding strategy and coordinate with country office teams.
  • Local Donor and Funding Partners Engagement (10%):
  • Prepare materials for donor engagement to bolster SCI’s reputation.
  • Monitor media and donor sources for changes in strategy or regulations.
  • Provide technical support to the Partnership Unit.
  • Proposal Development (40%):
  • Drive coordination for project design and proposal development.
  • Lead in the development and monitoring of the proposal development calendar.
  • Write proposal sections, review inputs for quality control, and facilitate technical advice.
  • Strategic Information Management (10%):
  • Ensure accurate and timely overview of funding priorities and pipeline health.
  • Contribute to institutional learning by documenting and sharing best practices.
  • Humanitarian Response (10%):
  • Support strategic resource mobilization for Emergencies within the country.
  • Deploy immediately to support funding coordination in major regional responses.

Job Requirements:

Essential:

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in both emergency and development contexts.
  • Proven experience in leading the development of large-scale complex proposals.
  • Skills in donor landscape mapping and development of donor engagement strategies.
  • Excellent planning, management, and coordination skills.
  • Strong communication/presentation skills in English.
  • Commitment to Save the Children values.

Desirable:

Knowledge of the Afghanistan context of the donor landscape.

Experience in strategic portfolio analysis.
