Job Description: Grants Management Specialist (Partnerships)

ABOUT THE JOB

Join us as the Grants Management Specialist (Partnerships) within DRC Afghanistan’s Programme Support Unit (PSU). You will play a pivotal role in efficiently managing partnerships across the grants cycle, aligning with Operational Handbook Guidelines.

Working closely with the Programme Development and Quality Manager, you will contribute to the DRC Afghanistan Partnerships Strategy. Your responsibilities include overseeing partner identification, due diligence processes, joint fundraising, and coordinating partnerships during project design and implementation.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to developing and updating DRC Afghanistan Partnership Strategy with the Programme Development and Quality Manager.
  • Lead the identification of potential partners and maintain an updated mapping of national and international organizations for strategic partnerships.
  • Lead due diligence and partnership capacity assessments for local implementing partners.
  • Contribute to identifying joint fundraising opportunities in alignment with DRC Afghanistan’s Strategic Plan.
  • Coordinate with partners during collaborative project design and fundraising, ensuring timely inputs in concept notes, proposals, and budgets.
  • Ensure streamlined communication between departments for budget drafting and coordinate with partners on strong logical frameworks and monitoring & evaluation plans.
  • Lead the development of sub-grant agreements and manage sub-grants to DRC partners.
  • Coordinate with Risk and Compliance Unit for joint project registration with relevant ministries.
  • Ensure efficient coordination with partners during project implementation, including timely submission of high-quality reports.
  • Provide guidance to partners on donor and DRC rules and regulations.
  • Lead capacity building plans and coordinate with relevant departments for effective support.
  • Act as a focal point between Afghanistan Country Office and DRC Partnerships Grants Management units in HQ.
  • Conduct regular field visits to partners for follow-up, capacity support, and internal monitoring.

Job Requirements:

ABOUT YOU

To succeed in this role, you must have:

At least 5 years of professional work experience in NGOs.

Experience in grants and partnerships management, and government registration/reporting.

Experience in portfolio management and inter-departmental coordination.

Education/Qualifications:

University degree in organizational development, international relations, business administration, education, humanitarian affairs, public and social policy, or related field(s).

Strong writing and communication skills.

Strong interpersonal skills.

Key Deliverables:

  • Up-to-date Partnerships Strategy.
  • Partners Mapping.
  • Timely completion of due diligence and partners’ capacity assessment.
  • Joint concept notes, proposals, and budgets for identified joint fundraising opportunities.
  • Completion and follow-up on partners’ capacity development plan.
  • High-quality reports by partners.
  • High-quality communication material from partners.
  • Timely completion of all deliverables under DRC-ACBAR Twinning project.

Key Stakeholders:

DRC implementing partners.

Programme: PSU members, DRC/HDP HoPs, Area Managers, Area Programme Manager, Deputy Country Director, and Country Director.

Support functions: Head of Support Services, Finance Manager.

Languages:

Advanced skills in written and spoken English.

Dari and Pashto.
