Job Description:

Summary of Key Functions:

As a Field Engineer, you will actively contribute to the implementation of community infrastructure projects. Your role involves executing Cash for Work activities and providing technical support to ADA projects. In collaboration with the field supervisor, community mobilizers, and other stakeholders, you will play a crucial role in various project stages, including technical surveys, design, estimation, proposal preparation, implementation, and monitoring.

Key Results Expected:

  • Engage communities in understanding program objectives and gaining their ownership of projects.
  • Participate in participatory needs assessments in community meetings.
  • Prepare community-wide work calendars and resource plans for the implementation plan.
  • Conduct technical feasibility studies, surveys, design, and cost estimation for proposed projects.
  • Ensure realistic cost estimations with less than 10% variation and monitor budgets.
  • Oversee project implementation, providing technical guidance and safety training.
  • Empower communities through the project implementation process.
  • Coordinate with community development councils (CDCs) to select Cash for Work projects based on priorities.
  • Monitor project progress, conduct baseline surveys, and ensure adherence to technical specifications.
  • Manage project plans efficiently, ensuring effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Uphold safety standards and facilitate training for CDCs and maintenance committees.
  • Collect and analyze data, submit progress reports, and contribute to procurement planning.
  • Ensure quality control of construction materials and activities during supervision.
  • Support communities in procuring construction materials with quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Facilitate community members in prioritizing impactful low-cost projects in each sector.
  • Demonstrate teamwork, involve team members in decision-making, and keep stakeholders informed.

Skills and Experience:

Education: University degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).

Work Experience: Minimum three years of experience in civil engineering, community development, and CFW projects with NGOs or local government.

Language Skills: Fluency in spoken and written Dari, Pashtu, and English highly desirable.
