Job Description:

Job Summary:

As an Entrepreneurship and Marketing Officer with Islamic Relief Worldwide (Afghanistan), you will play a crucial role in community mobilization, focusing on private sector and livelihood sub-projects, as well as SMEs “business initiatives.”

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct market needs assessments, identifying high-valued skills, MSMEs, local producers, and non-agriculture products.
  2. Facilitate vulnerability assessments to identify and support vulnerable groups.
  3. Establish men and women producers’ groups in targeted districts, supporting handicrafts, SMEs, and agricultural production.
  4. Design, develop, and manage community mobilization activities supporting agricultural businesses, SMEs, cooperatives, and associations.
  5. Conduct training need assessments and assist in capacity development for men and women producers’ groups.
  6. Prepare lists of selected MSMEs, SMEs, and local producers, and raise awareness about small invitation funds.
  7. Deliver project-related training to men and women producers’ groups, focusing on economic empowerment and development.
  8. Assist women groups in marketing their products, improving linkages between them and sellers, and forming value chain partnerships.
  9. Identify and evaluate value chain opportunities, recommending priority opportunities for development.
  10. Facilitate the selection of lead farmers and other producer groups, including training activities and technology transfer.
  11. Provide advice and technical support to entrepreneurs and prospective investors.
  12. Coordinate with government departments, chambers of commerce, NGOs, and other stakeholders for project implementation.
  13. Prepare business development capacity-building training materials and conduct training for entrepreneurs and project beneficiaries.
  14. Maintain strong communications with clients, conduct post-distribution monitoring processes, and submit reports regularly.
  15. Perform other activities as directed by the Project Coordinator or Area Program Coordinator.

Job Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor’s in economics, business administration, marketing and sales, commerce, or related fields. A master’s degree is an advantage.

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in market needs assessments, feasibility studies, and analysis of agriculture and livelihood-related activities.
  • Strong knowledge of developing business plans and marketing strategies.
  • Understanding of sub-national institutional contexts in Afghanistan.
  • Experience in working with local government or NGOs in remote areas of Afghanistan.

Language Requirement:

Fluency in Pashto, Dari, and English.

Computer Skills:

Proficiency in MS Office and internet usage.
