Job Description:

Summary of Key Functions:

As a Community Mobilizer, your role is pivotal in ensuring the effective and efficient implementation of project interventions. Working closely with targeted communities, you will mobilize them to support ADA project activities. Your responsibilities include maintaining strong relations between the project, staff, and community stakeholders, contributing to community and project selection, and handling conflict resolution at the field level. Your work will focus on community self-reliance, organizing necessary resources, and enhancing community management skills to empower marginalized groups.

Key Results Expected:

  • Mobilize targeted communities for effective project implementation.
  • Build close coordination and communication with project target groups, including IDPs, returnees, and host communities.
  • Participate and facilitate participatory needs assessments in general community meetings.
  • Contribute to community and project selection, beneficiaries’ identification, and support technical staff in surveying and selecting sub-projects.
  • Ensure the vulnerable are heard in community decisions, including women, youth, disabled individuals, ethnic minorities, and the marginalized.
  • Conduct regular meetings with community leaders, CDCs, religious leaders, and other stakeholders to understand and address community issues.
  • Liaise with community leaders and influencers to garner support for project interventions.
  • Facilitate risk mapping at the community level and establish community-based disaster management committees.
  • Establish a platform for communication and coordination among community entities.
  • Conduct training on social accountability approaches and facilitate interface meetings and provincial conferences.
  • Serve as a link between the organization and community or project target groups.
  • Keep the community informed about ADA project-related interventions.
  • Coordinate and participate in project field-level events and support other project teams in material distribution.
  • Demonstrate teamwork, involve team members in decision-making, and keep stakeholders informed.

Safeguarding Responsibilities:

Job Requirements:

Core Competencies:

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

Functional Competencies:

Proven ability to work flexibly and independently with limited supervision, delivering quality results against tight deadlines.

Excellent communication and presentation skills for community mobilization and project coordination.

Skills and Experience:

  • Deep knowledge of community mobilization and community-led initiatives.
  • Excellent training, facilitation, and community mobilization skills.
  • Profound understanding of Afghan traditions and cultural norms.
  • Ability and willingness to work closely with communities.
  • Excellent spoken/written Dari and Pashto; English language skills are a plus.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in social science, socio-economics, business administration, or other relevant fields.

Work Experience:

Minimum 3 years of experience in community development programs, women empowerment programs, with knowledge of livelihood projects, agriculture, and governance projects.

Languages Skills:

Fluency in spoken and written Dari and Pashto; English language skills are a plus.
