Job Description:

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the main point of contact in the South Region for the Senior Management Team in Kabul.
  • Ensure alignment of program and operations for smooth implementation.
  • Conduct regular meetings with field teams to receive updates from operations, security, finance, and programs.
  • Take measures to provide a safe working environment for Mercy Corps employees.
  • Liaise with authorities, peer organizations, and coordination mechanisms within the region.

Program Implementation:

Support the program team during gaps or emergencies.

Identify areas of high needs within the South Region.

Ensure program implementation aligns with donor and government requirements.

Operations Management:

Oversee routine administrative work and program support operations.

Ensure compliance with Mercy Corps and donor regulations at the field office level.

Provide oversight over procurement processes and logistics.

Security and Access Management:

Work closely with the Security & Access Manager, reporting regularly on the security situation.

Arrange security briefings for visitors.

Ensure compliance with security procedures and policies determined by country leadership.

Provide leadership for ensuring program teams have access to communities.

Team Management:

Support onboarding of new staff.

Assist team members with information, tools, and resources.

Promote accountability and provide constructive feedback.

Create a work environment of mutual respect and excellence.

Representation:

Serve as the main focal point for external stakeholders and authorities.

Coordinate with Program Managers and Technical Managers for relevant cluster meetings.

Other Responsibilities:

Undertake additional tasks directed by Senior Management Team members.

Organizational Learning:

Commit 5% of time to learning activities benefiting Mercy Corps and personal development.

Accountability to Beneficiaries:

Support efforts toward accountability to beneficiaries and international standards in relief and development work.
