Job Description:
Job Summary:
As a Psychosocial Counselor at Islamic Relief Worldwide Afghanistan, you’ll play a crucial role in providing mental health and psychosocial support services at Safe Healing Centers (SHCs) levels. Your responsibilities include offering psycho-social support and psychological first aid to survivors of gender-based violence (GBV), trauma, and natural disasters. This role involves conducting individual and group counseling, awareness programs, and ensuring safe and confidential referrals to relevant service providers.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide psycho-social support (PSS) and psychological first aid (PFA) to survivors of disaster trauma, GBV, and natural disasters.
- Conduct screening and assessments on psychological trauma.
- Raise community awareness on GBV prevention, trauma, psychosocial support, Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE), and separated/unaccompanied children.
- Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions.
- Implement GBV health protocol responses for survivors.
- Promote Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) through orientation for community influential figures.
- Organize recreational activities like drawing and positive storytelling for SHC clients.
- Collaborate with Child-Friendly Spaces, Women Safe Space staff, Child Protection Action Networks (CPANs), Social Workers, extenders, and other services.
- Attend relevant meetings as requested by supervisors.
- Participate in PSS/PFA and other related training programs.
- Maintain secure records of clients receiving counseling services and submit reports to designated personnel.
- Provide training for health frontline service providers on safe and confidential referrals.
- Support social mobilizers in conducting awareness sessions for project beneficiaries.
- Undertake any other project-related tasks assigned by the project officer.
Job Requirements:
- Experience: 1-2 Years
- Minimum Education: Bachelor in Psychology
