Program/Department Summary:

The EmpowerED program, funded by GiZ, aims to increase access to quality vocational training for vulnerable young people, including women. Operating over 20 months in Kabul, Parwan, and Herat, the program targets master trainers from private sector companies, establishing courses based on market assessment.

Success Summary:

The successful Market Linkage Coordinator we seek will lead by example, be proactive, possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and demonstrate excellent stewardship and compliance with Mercy Corps regulations. This individual will play a key role in ensuring the program’s success by providing technical support to implementing partners and facilitating market linkages for program participants.

Job Responsibilities:

  • As the Market Linkage Coordinator, you will:
  • Support the Program Manager in day-to-day operations and management of the program.
  • Provide technical support to implementing partners, aligning training with market needs.
  • Manage daily market linkage activities, including the training of master trainers employed in businesses.
  • Act as a liaison between program participants and external stakeholders (community, private, and public sectors).
  • Develop and maintain databases of enrolled program participants, ensuring accurate and updated information.
  • Support the design of the program’s market linkage strategy and develop a market network/value chain.
  • Represent the program within communities and engage with government and private stakeholders.

Job Requirements:

General:

  • University degree, preferably in business administration, education, economics, or international development.
  • 2-3 years of overall experience, with 1-2 years in a similar role in the education/TVET sector.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adhere to MC policies/procedures.
  • Strong organizational, data collection, and report writing skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of spoken and written English.
  • Advanced computer skills in basic office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Soft Skills:

  • Proactive, highly organized, and possesses strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Takes initiative, requires minimal supervision, and has a teachable spirit.
  • Works well under pressure, multitasks, and delivers high-quality results with a positive attitude.
  • Promotes a healthy and professional environment within the team.
  • Conducts oneself in a professional, ethical, and respectful manner at all times.
