Job Description: Enumerator

Background:

The “Lifesaving Integrated Emergency Response to vulnerable crisis-affected populations in Afghanistan” (BHA) program aims to provide humanitarian assistance to households affected by conflict-induced economic crises in Herat, Kandahar, and Balkh provinces. The program is funded by BHA USAID and implemented by Mercy Corps-Afghanistan (MCA).

Objectives:

Door-to-door registration of vulnerable households in project target locations.

Deliverables:

Proper registration of program participants using predefined criteria and the ONA platform in Bakh and Kandahar provinces.

Responsibilities:

  • Adapt and apply information from the orientation session for data collection, reporting daily work.
  • Ensure tools and materials for data collection are sufficient and appropriate.
  • Introduce oneself and secure permission for interviews from participants.
  • Conduct interviews, asking questions clearly and recording responses accurately.
  • Double-check completed questionnaires for accuracy before submission.
  • Compile, record, and code information into a predefined COBO system.
  • Represent MCA and the project to stakeholders in local languages.
  • Report daily work progress.
  • Any additional duties related to the project assigned by the reporting line.

Timeframe / Schedule:

January 01 to February 28, 2023, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Management:

Enumerators will be managed by Cash and NFI Coordinator and Program Officers and work closely with them.

Requirements:

At least one year of experience in data collection, administering questionnaires, and using mobile devices like Open Data Kit (ODK).

Education:

High school certificate; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
