Project Background:
Join Koh-e Baba Consultancy Services in supporting the Afghanistan Value Chains Program (AVCP), a USAID-funded initiative implemented by DAI Global, LLC. AVCP aims to promote sustainable agriculture-led economic growth by partnering with anchor firms in livestock and crop value chains. As a Market Linkages Specialist, you will play a vital role in expanding market coverage for livestock anchor firms, contributing to increased productivity, commercial viability, and engagement of Afghan women in agriculture.
Job Requirements:
Role’s Purpose:
As a Market Linkages Specialist, your role is to facilitate upstream and downstream relationships for selected livestock anchor firms. You will identify and address constraints hindering business growth, expanding market coverage through strategic activities. Collaborate closely with Value Chain Leads, regional teams, and crosscutting members to monitor progress, identify opportunities, and lead interventions to upgrade partner anchor firms’ marketing understanding.
Objectives and Duties:
- Organize investment conferences, Business-to-Farmers (B2F), and Business-to-Business (B2B) events.
- Track and measure the success of market linkage meetings and events, ensuring follow-up consultations.
- Provide technical assistance to processors in raw material sourcing and build relations with suppliers and buyers.
- Conduct market research, assessments, and prepare reports in selected value chains.
- Support Export and Trade Promotion Manager, Value Chain Leads, and crosscutting team members in training and events.
- Assist in forming value chain partnerships and networks, analyzing data, and preparing due diligence reports.
- Maintain close coordination with stakeholders and agencies on livestock value chain activities.
- Contribute to project activities, planning, reports, and deliverables.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Agroeconomics, Economics, Trade, Marketing, Business, or related area.
- Five years of experience in private sector work, preferably in implementing donor projects in enterprise market systems.
- Previous experience in equivalent positions with SMEs, preferably in the livestock sector.
- Fluency in English and relevant regional languages.
