Job Description:
As a Child Protection Case Worker, you will play a pivotal role in identifying and addressing protection concerns for children at risk. Your responsibilities include:
General Duties:
- Stay updated on developments in service provisions, maintaining and updating spreadsheets with mapped services.
- Actively participate in weekly case management team meetings, remaining open to feedback and self-reflection.
- Cultivate self-care and demonstrate qualities of honesty, kindness, professionalism, and commitment to teamwork.
- Maintain proactive communication with internal units, highlighting challenges and proposing solutions.
- Take full responsibility for maintaining, drafting, and updating reports, including case management reports.
- Identify opportunities to better support children through facilitation of processes and systems.
Specific Duties:
- Identify cases of children at risk, including child labor, abuse, unaccompanied and separated children.
- Provide case management services following IRC’s Standard Operating Procedures and Global Child Protection Case Management Guidelines.
- Conduct outreach through Safe Healing and Learning Spaces in Afghanistan.
- Independently manage case actions plans, ensuring relevant administrative forms are updated regularly.
- Maintain excellent documentation of case management files in line with IRC’s SOPs and other processes.
- Assess the level of risk for each child and report high-risk cases to the appropriate authorities.
- Conduct mapping of services and facilitate access to services for children and their families.
- Maintain regular communication with external referral agencies for service provision.
Job Requirements:
- Education: Technical diploma in psychology, social work, human rights, or related degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in implementing child protection programs, preferably in humanitarian or development settings.
- Skills: Commitment to serving children, understanding of best interests principles.
- Technical Competency: Understanding of working with vulnerable children.
- Personal Qualities: Team player, flexible, network-builder, able to handle pressure well in a cross-cultural setting.
- Communication Skills: Fluency in Pashto, Dari, and English, strong reporting skills.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Access, and internet usage.
